Guangdong BIAM undertook the anticorrosion coating project for two world-class cross-sea bridges, Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Sea Bridge, providing a full set of water-based heavy-duty anticorrosion coating solutions. The marine environment where the bridges are located belongs to the C5 severe corrosion environment, with high humidity, strong salt spray erosion, and extremely high requirements for the anticorrosion performance of coatings.
BIAM’s water-based heavy-duty anticorrosion coating system adopted in the project includes water-based epoxy rust-inhibiting primer, water-based epoxy micaceous iron intermediate coat, and water-based acrylic polyurethane weather-resistant topcoat. The product has excellent salt spray resistance (up to 4000h) and weather resistance (up to 3000h UV aging), which can effectively resist the erosion of marine corrosive media. During the construction process, the coating showed excellent constructability and long operation time, adapting to the complex construction environment of the bridge. Up to now, the coating has been in stable operation for many years, with no obvious corrosion, peeling, or other phenomena, and the anticorrosion effect has been highly recognized by the project party, fully verifying the reliability of BIAM’s products in large-scale key projects.
